The Magdalena Palace is an example of palace architecture. Don Juan de Llano Ponte commanded the palace to be built halfway through the 18th century. A chapel was built attached to the palace. It was devoted to Mary Magdalene, after whom the palace later took its name.
During the French invasion it was occupied in 1810 and the French Marshal Ney, Napoleon's right-hand man, stayed here.
In the 20th century it was refurbished to be the Santa Bárbara school and in 2003 it was acquired by the Tascón family, who turned it into this beautiful Palace-Hotel.
